CEVA Logistics Massive Data Breach Reaches Banks, Retailers, and Steam

Logistics giant CEVA Logistics has suffered a cyberattack, causing serious disruption across Europe. According to TechCrunch, the France-based company was hit by unauthorized access to a system that centrally manages delivery information for client companies. As a result, customers’ personal information was leaked, affecting financial institutions, retailers, and even gaming platforms.

Attack Details and Scope of Impact

According to industry news site FreightWaves, the cyberattack began on July 29. CEVA told TechCrunch that the attack affected at least eight warehouses in Europe and caused delivery delays. The company handles deliveries from product assembly plants to consumers’ doorsteps across its global warehouse network, and its 2025 revenue reached $18.3 billion.

The attack also resulted in data leakage. Multiple companies reported that customers’ names, home addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses had been stolen from CEVA’s systems. This information is the data CEVA uses when delivering goods to consumers.

Dutch online retail giant Bol warned on its website that hackers had breached the systems of its warehouse partner CEVA. The company mentioned the possibility that customer data had been exposed and warned of delivery delays and order cancellations. Dutch luxury retailer De Bijenkorf also confirmed the theft of customer data and delivery delays through local media.

Sports clubs and financial institutions were no exception. Soccer club Ajax, banking giant ING, and eyewear manufacturer Ace & Tate reported that customer delivery information had been affected. Video game giant Valve learned on August 7 that data had been stolen from CEVA’s systems and contacted customers who had recently purchased Steam hardware. In a post, Valve explained that CEVA stores delivery information for 90 days after an order.

CEVA has so far said that 10 organizations have reported data leaks related to the incident. The company operates more than a thousand warehouses worldwide, and as logistics becomes increasingly digitalized, this incident has highlighted cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the supply chain.

When logistics infrastructure is hacked, individual companies’ security measures alone cannot prevent damage. Because customer information leaks indirectly through logistics partners, companies must consider risk management across their business partners. Although this incident was limited to the European market, it is essential for globally operating e-commerce sites and gaming platforms to strengthen monitoring at every stage of the supply chain.
